1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, improve the user experience and provide information to website owners.

Cookies may be "persistent" (they remain on your device until deleted or they expire) or "session" cookies (they are deleted when you close your browser). They may also be set by the website you are visiting ("first-party cookies") or by third parties that provide content or services on the website ("third-party cookies").

In addition to traditional cookies, parabrisas.pt also uses the browser's localStorage to store your cookie consent preferences. localStorage works similarly to cookies, but the data is not sent to the server with each request and does not have an automatic expiration date.

2. Types of Cookies Used

The parabrisas.pt website uses the following types of cookies and storage technologies:

2.1 Essential Cookies

These cookies are strictly necessary for the operation of the website. Without them, certain basic functionalities would not be available. They do not require your consent, in accordance with Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive.

  • Cookie consent preference: we store your cookie consent choice in the browser's localStorage, to ensure that your preferences are respected on subsequent visits and that the cookie banner is not displayed repeatedly.

2.2 Analytical Cookies

These cookies allow us to understand how visitors use the website, which pages are most visited and how they arrive at our website. All information collected is aggregated and therefore anonymous. They are used only with your prior consent.

  • Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited): we use Google Analytics to collect statistical data on website usage, including the number of visitors, pages viewed, session duration and traffic source. IP addresses are anonymised.

2.3 Advertising Cookies

These cookies are used to display relevant advertising to website visitors. They may be used to limit the number of times an advert is shown, measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns and personalise adverts based on the user's interests. They are used only with your prior consent.

  • Google AdSense (Google Ireland Limited): we use Google AdSense to display adverts on the website. This service may use cookies to display personalised advertising based on your browsing history and interests.

3. Cookie Table

The following table describes the cookies and storage technologies used on the parabrisas.pt website:

Cookie Type Purpose Duration
cookieConsent (localStorage) Essential Stores the user's cookie consent preference (accept all or essential only), preventing the banner from being displayed repeatedly. Persistent (until manually removed by the user)
_ga Analytical Google Analytics cookie used to distinguish unique users. Assigns a randomly generated identifier to each visitor for counting and statistical analysis purposes. 2 years
_gid Analytical Google Analytics cookie used to distinguish users. Similar to _ga, but with a shorter duration, enabling daily unique visitor counts. 24 hours
_gat Analytical Google Analytics cookie used to throttle the request rate to the server, reducing data consumption on high-traffic websites. 1 minute
__gads Advertising Google AdSense cookie associated with advertising. Used to measure interactions with adverts and prevent the same advert from being displayed repeatedly. 13 months
__gpi Advertising Google AdSense cookie used to store and track the number of advert views and to personalise the advertising displayed. 13 months
NID Advertising Google cookie used to personalise adverts on websites that use Google services, storing user preferences and information. 6 months
IDE Advertising Google DoubleClick cookie used to register and display personalised adverts, measuring advert effectiveness for the user. 13 months

Note: Analytical and advertising cookies are loaded only after the user accepts via the cookie consent banner. If you select "Essential Only", no analytical or advertising cookies will be installed.

4. How to Manage Cookies

You can manage and control cookies in several ways:

4.1 Through our consent banner

On your first visit to parabrisas.pt, a consent banner is displayed that allows you to choose between:

  • Accept All: you consent to the use of all cookies described in this policy, including analytical and advertising cookies.
  • Essential Only: you reject analytical and advertising cookies, allowing only the storage of your consent preferences.

4.2 Through your browser settings

Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can block, delete or manage cookies on a granular basis. Below are the instructions for the most commonly used browsers:

Please note: Disabling cookies in your browser may affect the functioning of some websites and features.

5. How to Withdraw Consent

If you have already accepted cookies and wish to withdraw your consent, you may do so in one of the following ways:

  • Clear site data: in your browser settings, clear the cookies and site data stored for the parabrisas.pt domain. This will also remove your consent preference from localStorage, causing the cookie banner to be displayed again on your next visit, allowing you to change your choice.
  • Clear localStorage: in your browser's developer tools (F12 key > Application > Local Storage), you can remove the "cookieConsent" entry associated with parabrisas.pt.
  • Use browser settings: configure your browser to block third-party cookies or to delete cookies automatically when the browser is closed.

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out based on consent previously given.
